Terms of use

The rules for the site, your account and the survey, in plain words.

Last updated

These terms are the agreement between you and Kassem Media Group, which runs Lakeshore Research (“we”, “us”). When you create an account or use the site, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

1. What Lakeshore Research is

Lakeshore Research runs a short survey of players about regulated online casinos and sportsbooks. After the survey, members pick where they live and see links to the regulated operators there, by name. We publish grouped results from the answers.

The survey covers which sites you have used, what you play, how often, and a few questions about gambling habits.

2. What we are not

  • We are not a casino, sportsbook, gambling operator or payment company.
  • We take no bets. We hold no money. We process no payments.
  • We give no financial, legal or gambling advice.
  • We offer no extras, deals or inducements from any operator, and we never will on Ontario pages.
  • We do not pay you to take part, and we do not pay you for anything you do on an operator’s site.

The operator links we show are plain links to the operators’ own sites. Each operator has its own account rules, terms and privacy policy. We do not control them, and we are not responsible for them. An invitation to take part in our survey is not a recommendation to gamble.

3. Independence and money

No operator pays us today. We hold no referral or affiliate deal with any operator, and no operator owns, controls or sponsors us. If that ever changes, we say so on the page with the links and on this page before it takes effect. Pay would never change what we publish.

We are not affiliated with iGaming Ontario or the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). We only link to operators that are legal in Ontario: operators on iGaming Ontario’s list of regulated sites, and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.

4. Who may take part

  • You must be 19 or older.
  • The sites we show are for Ontario residents. Members elsewhere can take the survey but see no sites.
  • You may hold one account, in your own name, with your own details.

We may check the details you give us. We may close an account that breaks these rules or that we believe is not a real person.

5. Your account

Keep your password to yourself. Tell us at once if you think someone else used your account. You can log out everywhere from your account page. Sessions end after a day of no use.

You can delete your account at any time from your account page. We then delete your details, your answers and your click records. We keep one record of what you agreed to, with your email hashed, for 3 years, as the anti-spam law requires.

6. Your answers

  • Tell us only what happened to you. Give your best honest estimate when we ask about times.
  • Do not type names, usernames, account numbers or other people’s details into free comments.
  • You keep ownership of your answers. You give us a licence to store them, to analyse them, and to publish results built from them in grouped form, where no one can be picked out. This licence lets us keep using results we have already published if you later delete your account.
  • We may leave out answers that we believe are not genuine, that break these terms, or that do not add up.

7. Using the site fairly

  • Use the site for yourself only.
  • Do not create more than one account, or an account for someone else.
  • Do not try to break, probe, overload or scrape the site, or to get at data that is not yours.
  • Do not post or send anything unlawful, abusive or misleading.

8. What we publish, and its limits

Our published numbers come from what players report. People remember times roughly. Some sites get few answers. We publish a number for a site only once at least 5 players have reported on it, and we say how many answers each number has. Numbers go out of date. Check an operator’s own terms before you deposit. We do not promise that our numbers are free of errors.

We link to operator sites, help lines and public bodies. Those sites have their own terms and privacy rules. We do not control them and are not responsible for what they do, what they charge, or what you win or lose there.

10. Our content

Our words, design, logo and the results we publish belong to us. You may share our published results if you name Lakeshore Research and link to our site. Do not copy the site or scrape it. Operator names and brands belong to their owners.

11. Ending or changing the service

We may change, pause or stop any part of the site or the survey at any time. We may close your account if you break these terms. You may stop using the site at any time. Sections 6, 8, 12 and 13 stay in force after your account ends.

12. Our responsibility

As far as Ontario law allows, we are not responsible for losses that come from:

  • using this site or relying on our results
  • using any operator’s site, including anything you deposit, bet, win or lose there
  • anything outside our control, such as an outage at a service we use

Nothing in these terms limits rights that Ontario consumer law gives you and that cannot be waived.

13. Law and disputes

Ontario law and the Canadian laws that apply in Ontario govern these terms. Any dispute goes to the courts of Ontario. If a court rejects one part of these terms, the rest still counts.

14. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. When we do, we change the date at the top. For big changes we tell you on your account page. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the new terms.

15. Privacy

Our privacy policy explains what we collect and why. Our research consent notice explains the survey.

16. Questions
